Finland against EU taxonomy rules regarding biomass

Finland has announced its opposition to the European Union’s draft “Taxonomy Climate Delegated Act.”

According to Euractiv, the Finnish government believes the proposed classification of biomass under the EU’s green finance rule goes against the country’s interests, as “some aspects of the technical criteria for forest management are difficult to understand and open to interpretation.”

In a statement, the Finnish government said that under the current proposal, “forestry would be excluded from the taxonomy, which would make it more difficult to access funding for forestry investments.”
