Researchers find synthetic route to produce biofuel from biomass
February 9, 2021 By Canadian Biomass Magazine
A joint team of German and Chinese researchers has found a way to produce biofuel from biomass.
The team converted 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) produced from biomass into 2,5-dimethylfuran (DMF), which may be a suitable biofuel.
DMF has a higher octane number than ethanol, has better energy intensity and an ideal boiling point.
