Hamilton-based Budget Demolition has purchased Ontario Power Generation’s Thunder Bay generating station. Closed three years ago, the plant was originally built in 1963.
OPG said it will continue to maintain a Thunder Bay office. Eleven hydroelectric stations are situated in the region as well as a biomass plant in Atikokan.
Budget Demolition is in talks with the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission to explore potential uses for the site once the plant is demolished.
