U.S. researchers advance ethanol fuel cell technology

Researchers at the University of Central Florida have set a new power density record for ethanol fuel cells, and claim the technology now rivals fossil fuels and electric car batteries.

UCF NanoScience Technology Center associate professor Yang Yang and his team have developed new catalysts to make direct ethanol fuel cells last longer and boost their power density to a record level. Their research was published in the journals Nature Communications and Joule.
