Winter 2020 Youth Olympic Games cauldron to burn wood pellets

Next year’s Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland, will feature the first-ever Olympic cauldron fuelled by wood pellets.

The wood pellet design is a “sustainable solution and an opportunity to promote local knowledge and know-how,” according to an article on www.olympic.org.

The cauldron will be fuelled by 100 per cent Swiss made pellets – a first in the history of the Olympic games.
