Europe’s green hydrogen buyers enticed by Quebec’s cheap hydroelectricity

Green hydrogen buyers in Europe are being enticed by Quebec’s abundance of cheap hydroelectric power.

Hydro-Quebec’s chief executive officer says European buyers are prepared to “pay a fortune” to decarbonize and are interested in coming to Quebec to produce green hydrogen from green electricity.

Sophie Brochu added the interest in Quebec’s electricity has never been greater. The post-pandemic economic rebound has helped drive interest in hydroelectric power.
